Join Shade & Travel this winter for an unforgettable journey through Finland. Begin in Helsinki, where you'll experience the city's culture through a guided sightseeing tour, curated food tour, and cocktail-making class. Then head north to Finnish Lapland, where you'll stay in a glass igloo beneath the Arctic sky and have the chance to witness the Northern Lights. Your adventure continues with ice karting in an Elf Village, along with free time to enjoy the beauty and serenity of Lapland.

Please note – Day 1 of our trip begins on December 4. If you're flying from the United States, your flight will depart on December 3, but due to the time difference, you'll arrive on December 4.

Return Travel: Please make sure your return flight departs after 1:00PM GMT

Airport Transportation: Roundtrip airport transportation is included in the total trip price. Please ensure you are landing/departing around the above time slots, if you choose to book your own airfare. If you arrive/depart outside of this window, you will be responsible for your own transfers.

Day 1 / Land in Helsinki + Welcome Dinner

December 4

Please arrive at Helsinki International Airport before 1:00 PM. After clearing customs, we’ll take a private car to our luxe city hotel.

Once we've settled into our hotel, guests are invited to join us for a welcome dinner at a popular local restaurant in town (included in the core itinerary).

Day 2 / Cultural Experience | Food Tour | Cocktail Making

December 5

On this day, guests will immerse themselves in Finnish culture as we celebrate Finnish Independence Day in the heart of Helsinki.

We’ll begin with a guided sightseeing walk through the city’s historic center, passing key landmarks and waterfront areas as we take in the atmosphere of this national holiday.

Following our walk, we’ll enjoy lunch at a classic Helsinki restaurant featuring one of the Finnish president’s favorite traditional dishes. The day will conclude with a cocktail-making course, where guests will learn to craft drinks inspired by Nordic ingredients before returning to the hotel.

Day 3/ Free Day | Add on Estonia or Porvoo Day Trip

December 6

General Itinerary (Core Experience)

Ready to sit back, relax and stay warm? Today is the day to sight-see on your own or simply enjoy the hotel's amenities without any set plans.

Day Trip Add-on (Not included in Core Experience)

Guests may choose to travel to Estonia, just a short ferry ride away, to explore Tallinn’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, known for its medieval architecture, cobblestone streets, and historic city walls.

Alternatively, guests can opt for a visit to Porvoo, one of Finland’s oldest towns, celebrated for its charming old town, colorful riverside houses, local boutiques, and cafés.

Day 4/ Free Morning | Finnish Spa & Sauna Experience

December 7

On this day guests can enjoy a quiet morning at leisure. In the evening, our group will embark on a Finnish spa and sauna experience at a seaside urban wellness complex in central Helsinki. You’ll have access to a series of saunas with panoramic views over the Baltic Sea, plus warm and seawater pools right on the harborfront.

After time in the heat and a refreshing dip in the pool, guests can unwind with dinner and drinks by the water before returning to the hotel.

Day 5 / Head to Levi | Add on Dogsledding

December 8

On this day, we’ll check out of our Helsinki hotel and travel to Levi in Lapland. Upon arrival, guests will settle into glass cabins designed for Northern Lights viewing, offering expansive glass ceilings and unobstructed views of the Arctic sky.

Animal Experience Add-on

For guests interested in experiencing Lapland’s animals up close, two iconic winter experiences are available:

Guests may choose an adventurous dog sledding excursion or a scenic reindeer sleigh ride.

Day 6 / IceKarting Adventure

December 9

Following breakfast, the group will head out for a private ice karting experience, racing specially designed karts around a frozen track in the heart of Finnish Lapland. Between sessions, we'll warm up by the fire with traditional hot berry juice before returning to our glass igloos for a relaxing evening and, if conditions allow, another chance to witness the Northern Lights.

Day 7 / Head Home

December 10

Today, we’ll take a shuttle to Kittilä Airport for a quick 1 hour flight back to Helsinki.

Of note, our flight will depart in the morning and all guests will arrive back in the city before 12:00 PM. Please make sure your departing flight is booked after 1:00 PM to be on the safe side.
